Suicide: A young woman of my acquaintance sought me out for some counsel.  She asked “if we are all one soul then how can it be wrong to take our own life?”  It was a very good question. In order for us to consider ending our own lives two things must be present: pain and hopelessness.  It is an odd feature of our minds that when we suffer our brain tells us “it will always be thus”.  The reality is that nothing ever remains the same. To be alive is to experience constant change. This is the nature of the eternal Tao. So, the heartbreak, depression, fear or sadness we feel today will not persist. This is the way life is. We know this, but still we believe the lie that our mind tells us … “it will always be thus.”
So long as you live hope lives. The answer is not the destruction of yourself; rather, to seek the source of the pain and address it. Pain is our body and spirit’s way of telling us that we are out of harmony. Return to harmony and the pain lessens and disappears. Mindfulness, inner peace and serenity are available to all. Pain and sadness wither away in the face of love’s bright light.  No one is truly alone. Pain, like a winter’s storm will pass and in its passing new wisdom and growth will flower like the blooms of spring. It is hard to understand this when you are depressed or lonely but it is so.

A beautiful post. I was at this point in my life several year ago. See? Yoga and Buddhist philosophy can help <3
